Dr. Danny Camfferman - Registered Psychologist

Dr. Danny Camfferman

Dr. Danny Camfferman is a registered psychologist with a diverse background spanning clinical practice, research, and academia. He provides psychological support to adults and young people presenting with a range of concerns. He has experience in working with older individuals, ex-service personnel, LGBTQ+ clients, and those living with chronic health conditions and sleep disorders. His areas of clinical focus include anxiety, depression, chronic pain, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). He has an interest in seeing clients diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder. (FND)

Dr. Camfferman adopts a collaborative, client-centred approach, grounded in evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and interpersonal frameworks. He works to ensure that each therapeutic engagement is individually tailored, responsive to the client’s context, and oriented toward meaningful and sustainable outcomes. His clinical style is characterised by a calm, respectful presence and a structured yet flexible approach to psychological intervention.

With over a decade of applied experience, Dr. Camfferman has held roles in both medical and academic settings. As a neurophysiology scientist, he worked in hospital and research environments to advance understanding of the links between brain function, cognition, and behaviour. This neurobiological perspective continues to inform his psychological formulation and treatment planning, particularly in complex or comorbid presentations.

In the academic domain, Dr. Camfferman has lectured in psychology and behavioural science, and has supervised students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His teaching emphasised clinical reasoning, psychological theory, and the translation of research into practice—skills that underpin his current therapeutic work. He remains actively engaged in professional development and the dissemination of psychological knowledge.

Dr. Camfferman’s research interests have centred on sleep, behavioural regulation, and neurocognition. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to public and professional discourse on mental health, sleep medicine, and psychological wellbeing. He has co-authored work examining sleep disparities in Indigenous populations and has presented findings in both academic and applied contexts.

Clients often present to Dr. Camfferman seeking support with persistent emotional distress, behavioural challenges, or adjustment to significant life events. He integrates psychological assessment, case formulation, and intervention planning to support clients in building insight, developing coping strategies, and restoring a sense of control. He is particularly attuned to the impact of developmental, medical, and psychosocial factors on mental health outcomes.

Across all aspects of his work, Dr. Camfferman is committed to ethical, evidence-informed practice that upholds client dignity and autonomy. He aims to provide a therapeutic environment that is respectful, responsive, and conducive to meaningful change. His goal is to assist individuals not only in reducing psychological distress, but also in enhancing their quality of life and sense of personal agency.

Dr. Camfferman currently consults at Rose Park Psychology and welcomes referrals for a range of clinical presentations, including mood disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, FND, sleep disturbances, and the psychological impacts of chronic illness.

We understand that journeys are travelled better together. No issue is too big or too small. Whether it’s a series of sessions to deal with a complex problem or a single session to address a specific concern, we’re here to listen and help.
