Jo England - Registered Psychologist

Jo England

Jo is a relational Psychologist, providing a trauma informed therapy for adults over 18 years of age. Jo has taken care of people suffering from post-traumatic stress, panic, anxiety, depression, complex grief and developmental trauma, trauma experienced as a child.

As a Psychologist Jo has also completed a three year intensive clinical training from the Department of Psychiatry Westmead, and has an accreditation in short term psychodynamic therapy.

Jo began working in private practice 26 years ago collaborating with General Practice using the skills from CBT, mindful body work and somatic approaches, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Jo also uses attachment and mentalisation therapy, and trauma informed experiential psychotherapy.

Jo describes herself as a relational psychotherapist who believes that our style of attachment and patterns in relationships create both personal empowerment and troubling conditions such as depression and anxiety. In her therapy, you can identify patterns of coping which are less useful in your present day life, and form new ways of being with others. During a recent stay in the UK, Jo worked as a Chartered Psychologist and a consultant with a Neuro Rehabilitation clinic. Jo provided treatment to improve people’s mood and relationships after a life changing Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). As part of this work, Jo began training and supervision for the condition of Functional Neurological Disorder. (FND). Jo is a member of the Functional Neurological Institute and she maintains her supervision with a clinical specialist at St George’s Hospital London. Jo can see mild to moderate cases of FND in collaboration neuropsychiatry and General Practice. If you live outside Adelaide Jo provides this service online.

We understand that journeys are travelled better together. No issue is too big or too small. Whether it’s a series of sessions to deal with a complex problem or a single session to address a specific concern, we’re here to listen and help.
