Guiding Neurodivergent Journeys – Empowering Neurodivergent Families – Working with Children and Teenagers

Navigating the intricacies of neurodiversity can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. We aim to guide guiding families through the unique challenges neurodivergent children and teenagers face, and work with diagnoses including autism, ADHD and intellectual disability. Our approach blends the art and science of understanding behaviour into practical strategies for everyday life. Together, we aim to craft a personalised roadmap to help your child thrive across various environments to live their best life.

Cultivating Connection and Understanding

We are not just about managing challenges; we are about fostering connection within families. Our goal is to ease conflict and emotional reactivity while deepening the understanding of your child’s neurobiology and behaviour. Through tailored intervention methods, we empower your child to flourish, supported by a network of professionals.

Championing Neurodiversity

We are advocates for change, striving to reshape perceptions of neurodivergence in both families and schools. Our mission is to normalise neurodiversity and celebrate the unique strengths it brings to our community.

Affirming Your Journey

Tailored Support for Every Individual

Our psychologists embrace a client-centred approach, recognising and celebrating the inherent strengths of neurodivergent individuals. We believe in creating a safe space where every client feels heard, valued, and understood.

Empowering Through Affirming Practice

Our practice is rooted in affirming principles, where neurodiversity is celebrated as a natural variation rather than a disorder to be fixed.  We prioritise self-reflection, open communication, and collaboration to ensure every client feels empowered to achieve their goals.

What is Affirming Practice? This is how our psychologists work with neurodivergent clients.

– we have a nuanced understanding of autism and a commitment to continued learning to deepen their knowledge.

– we work to provide a space where an autistic client can feel safe to be their true self – we are self-reflective, open to feedback, sincere and genuine to aid the client feel at ease and to develop trust.

– we demonstrate they they wholeheartedly believe their autistic clients, and treat the client as the expert on their own life.

– the client is supported to reach their own goals and is assisted in advocating for themselves, which involves adapting standard approaches in a way that works for autistic clients.

– we work to find a shared way to communicate, recognising differences in communication between individuals and across neurotypes.

– we are aware and accepting of neurodiversity- that each person has a different brain, and there is no one ‘right’ brain- each person is unique.

– we recognise the inequalities faced by autistic people in their lives.
